Advanced BigCommerce Click-and-Collect for YDC

Your Discount Chemist (YDC) is the leading discount pharmacy chain in Australia, offering a huge range of products at low prices. They’re a go-to destination for affordable pharmaceutical and health products across Australia, with an even focus on both urban and rural locations.

MyIntegrator previously brought YDC onto an integrated BigCommerce platform, and as e-commerce continued to grow, they wanted to better leverage its extensive physical store network into the ordering process. To this end, they needed:

1. BigCommerce implementations of Buy Online, Pick Up in Store (BOPIS) and Buy Online, Return to Store (BORIS)
2. Integrating stock across multiple locations for ‘endless aisle’ inventory
3. Providing customers with detailed find-in-store functionality and a ‘stores near me’ search
4. Ensuring a smooth omni-channel experience regardless of order origin, for both urban and rural customers
5. Cross-channel order tracking & resolution
6. Capability to enable/disable click-and-collect for the Apple Pay Checkout

We set to work building a custom BigCommerce app to meet these needs!

Thanks to our experience in building the Multi-Location Inventory app, we easily produced a powerful custom version for YDC. As a backbone, it introduces a visible inventory & location viewer to the product, cart and checkout pages. These fields were integrated to provide real-time inventory updates at each location (hiding out-of-stock stores) and a user-friendly store selector, complete with Google Maps integration, that shows addresses and operating times. By making product availability at each outlet visible online, buying or reserving a product online for payment-and-pickup in-store has never been easier. After purchase, cross-channel order tracking and inventory updates are handled easily and automatically under-the-hood, keeping it simple for staff and customers alike. As a final touch, the click-and-collect method was hidden from the Apple Pay alternative checkout, ensuring that customers check and review product locations before purchasing.
